Deep Run Dash--The Results are In!

Thank you for your support of the Deep Run Dash, the primary fundraiser for the Deep Run PTA this year.  The PTA raised over $5000.  These funds will be used to support many activities for your children at school.  The grades with the most fundraising participation are:

First Place:  Kindergarten!  The kindergarten students will race the administrators and teachers in a scooter race on Monday, November 18th at 3:00.

Second Place:  5th Grade!  5th graders won the opportunity to "pie" the assistant principals in the face on November 13th.

Third Place: 1st Grade!  1st graders had free seating during lunch on November 12th.

If you didn't get a chance to support the Deep Run Dash or are interested in additional ways to support the PTA, click here!  Your support is greatly appreciated!

Worth Repeating

Parent Teacher Conferences--November 25-27

Parent Teacher Conferences will take place on November 25th & 26th, and for some teachers on November 27th.  Fall conferences will be the traditional parent-teacher conference with homeroom teachers and February conferences will be the student-led conference. The HCPSS Connect/Family File account is used to schedule the conferences.  Beginning on Monday, November 11th you can log on to HCPSS Connect at www.hcpss.org/connect to access Synergy Conference Management. You can then choose your desired conference time from each teacher’s availability.  For assistance with scheduling your conferences, visit the user guide for detailed instructions.

For parents without online access, please contact our front office staff at 410-313-5000 for assistance in scheduling conferences. Please note that if you are unable to attend conferences during the conference days/evenings, please contact your child’s teacher directly to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Tips for Scheduling Conferences

  • Parent Teacher Conferences will be scheduled in 20-minute increments.

  • Conferences will need to begin and end on time.

  • Please allow yourself travel time between conferences within the building.

  • Please do not schedule back-to-back conferences with different teachers if at all possible.

  • Related Arts teachers have a limited number of conference times available in comparison to the number of students they teach. You are not required to schedule a related arts conference, however we encourage you to schedule a conference if you have a concern you would like to discuss with the teacher. If you would like to schedule a conference with a related arts teacher, please email the teacher to schedule with them directly.  Please visit our DRES staff page at https://dres.hcpss.org/school-staff for contact information.

  • If you do not have access to email, please call the front office.

5th Grade Fundraiser

Fifth grade is having a fund raiser to raise money for their end of the year field trip, Simulated Congressional Hearings, and the end of the year celebrations.  Fifth graders have catalogs, or you can shop online at boonsupply.com/239276.  Forty percent of the sales will go to support our school.  The fund raiser will go until November 18th so that all items will be delivered in time for holiday gift giving.

Please join us at our November 19th meeting for a presentation by Assistant Principal Sophia Quirk. Learn about standardized testing at DRES, what tests are administered, understanding the results, how the test data is used at school, and additional information.
