PTA Fall Fundraiser--Please Read

Our Fall Fundraiser kicks off October 1st!  Please help support DRES with our PTA Fall Fundraiser. This year we're partnering with Charleston Wrap to raise funds to support our family activities like the winter festival, STEM, and teacher supports. Charleston Wrap offers a wide variety of gadgets, gifts, treats, candles, and home goods. Fundraising packets were sent home this week. Please check it out and share with family and friends! Items can be ordered online and shipped directly to you, OR submitted with payment offline and picked up at school later.  Items not ordered online will be shipped to DRES and available for pickup the week of November 22nd. More details to come closer to the pick-up date. Thank you for supporting our students and staff!

Student Chromebooks Inventory on Monday

Grades Prekindergarten, K and 1st--students should bring to school any HCPSS Chromebooks that are still at home.

Grades 2, 3, 4, 5--students should make sure they bring their Chromebook to school on Monday for inventory.

Reminder:  Beginning Monday, September 13, HCPSS will charge families for lost, stolen or damaged devices per the information below.

  • Families will be charged for any devices that are lost, stolen or damaged while in their care. 
  • If devices are lost, stolen or damaged during school hours and in the school building, school administrators will conduct an investigation to determine if the incident was the result of neglect on the part of the assigned student.

PTA Volunteers Needed

PTA is looking for volunteers for events and activities for this school year. There are so many ways to help! HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program Saturday Math Academy

The HCPSS Black Student Achievement Program Saturday Math Academy Fall Session is approaching! This year, the BSAP Saturday Math Academy will offer a virtual enrichment program for Howard County Public School System students in all levels of math for grades 3-12. Registration will take place online September 25 from 9:00 a.m.- until capacity is reached. Class space is limited. Families can register by accessing the HCPSS Connect Website. Family Institute Parent Workshops this Fall

The Office of Children and Families is pleased to offer workshops for parents this Fall

Listen and Learn Sessions for Students in Area 2

Students are invited to join other students from Area 2 schools in a Listen and Learn Session with our community superintendent Mrs. Jennifer Peduzzi and students from the Howard County Association of Student Councils.  The Zoom session will take place on September 28th from 7-8 pm.  This is an opportunity for students to share thoughts and ideas with leaders from the school system.  It is also a time to give constructive feedback.

Note about Area 2:  schools in Howard County are arranged into areas.  Deep Run is an Area 2 school along with our feeder schools, Mayfield Woods MS  and Long Reach HS.

PTA Halloween Trunk or Treat

Save the date for the PTA's Annual Trunk or Treat on October 28th at 6:00.

Halloween will only be celebrated at the Trunk or Treat. There will be no Halloween events taking place during the school day..

Covid-19 Self Screenings

All parents/guardians are to perform a COVID-19 health check every day before your student leaves home. Students are not to come to school if they are experiencing any symptom(s) associated with COVID-19 or other communicable disease.

Student/Parent Handbook

The 2021-2022 Student and Parent Handbook is now available on the HCPSS website. This resource is helpful for navigating the school year and includes information about HCPSS practices, policies and services available to support and enrich learning. A printed version of the handbook is no longer provided.
