Hour of Code at DRES

Mon, 12/04/2017 - 3:20pm

Dear Families,
Hour of Code is an internationally celebrated event designed to get kids excited about coding and to raise awareness of the value of learning to code.  At Deep Run Elementary, we encourage students to code at school and at home. There are many activities you can do at home to support your child’s coding interested.  Visit https://hourofcode.com/us/learn for a searchable database with many available resources or check out Mrs. Wenzel’s coding website @ lwenzelcode.weebly.com

You should also visit your child’s Instructional Technology Canvas page and view the Hour of Code Announcement or Module about initiatives taking place at Deep Run…including prizes, certificates and raffles for STEM related prizes!  To date, students at Deep Run have written 66,831 lines of code and several students have already completed the challenge of completing their assigned course!

PLEASE NOTE: Students must login via their code class (found via Canvas) to be eligible for certificates & prizes.  Each students will receive a login card with their username and password so they can access the course created by their technology teacher. Any questions, contact your child’s technology teacher @ robin_sevens@hcpss.org or lisa_wenzel@hcpss.org!

Have fun coding!
Mrs. Stevens & Mrs. Wenzel
