Take Your Child to Work Day
Take Your Child to Work Day is April 26th. Parents who want to take their child to work should send a note to school prior to April 26th. If the school receives a note, the absence will be counted as a "field trip." Please note, April 26th is a PARCC testing day for Grade 5. Since testing is in the morning, we encourage any 5th grader attending work with their parent to go in the afternoon.
Field Day T-Shirt
Field Day is Friday May 25th and the rain date is Friday June 8th. Buying a Field Day t-shirt is optional. However if you would like to buy one, t-shirts for Field Day are on sale ($7) now until April 28th and the order form is attached. If you want to buy one, please fill out the order form and send it to Mr. Sachs. The t-shirts are royal blue this year; we are not offering different colors for each grade. There are three ways to pay for the shirts, using a credit card online, a check made out to Deep Run Elementary School, or cash. Please make sure to fill out the whole order form including teacher and grade of the child buying a shirt.

The HCPSS Spring Student Exhibition at The Mall in Columbia is open until April 23rd.The Deep Run panel is located on the top level between Macy's and Nordstroms.

Save the Date! This year's Enrichment Fair is May 3rd from 6-8 pm. Come see student projects from the Gifted and Talented Program as well as classroom projects across all grade levels. Also, enjoy the second annual Invention Convention.

DRES Girl Scout Service Project
Girl Scout Troop 5203 is collecting empty toothpaste tubes, toothbushes, toothpaste cartons and packaging, and floss containers for our Earth Day service project.
You can help us keep these items out of the landfills by bringing them to our collection box at school. Please look for our collection box the front entrance. These items will be sent to Terracycle and will be remolded to make new recycled products. Thank you for helping Girl Scout troop 5203 reduce waste! The collection is now through April.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration is open. To register for kindergarten, children must be five years old by September 1, 2018. All children must be registered by their custodial parent (biological, adoptive, legal guardian.)
This year HCPSS will introduce a new online registration process. Starting Thursday, March 1, you will find a link on the main HCPSS website to begin the online process. HOWEVER, you will still need to come in during Kindergarten registration week to complete the process. Read more.
Yearbook Order Forms Due May 1st
Yearbook order forms went home in this week's Wednesday folders. The order forms are due May 1st. Yearbooks cost $15. Checks (made out to DRES), cash, or online orders will be accepted. To order online, visit www.strawbridge.net and use Online Code: 108429
