Kindergarten Registration
Online registration is now open for the 2019-2020 school year! Online registrations can be finalized in person at school beginning March 11.
Parents/guardians of children who will be five as of September 1, 2019 must enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year. Parents may begin the enrollment process online, followed by completion of the registration process at Deep Run Elementary. Online registration is not required and parents may elect to complete the full registration in person.

Kindergarten registration kick off week starts March 11 at all HCPSS schools. Parents may visit DRES all week from March 11-15 between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:00 PM to complete registrations. An appointment is not necessary during kick off week. K registrations can be completed after March 15 by appointment only - please call 410-313-5000 if you need to schedule a time.
PreK Registration
Pre-K applications for 2019-2020 will be availabe March 11th but assistance and processing will begin the week of March 18th.
STEM Night--March 13th from 6-8 pm
Please join us for the DRES Title I STEM night on Wednesday, March 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm.
This event will include a variety of fun, hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities. You and your child can participate in the following activities throughout the evening: Hula Hut, Marble Maze, Boat Float Challenge, Airplane Challenge, Catapult Challenge, Ski Jumps, Paper Plate Hovercraft, Microbits, Measuring Wind Speed, Pendulum Painting, Geometric Bubbles, Coding, Gumdrop Domes, Balloon Cars, and a presentation about the solar system. Introducing Typing Agent
In today's digital age, HCPSS believes that teaching students to touch type is imperative. As students become keyboard proficient, this invaluable skill will help prepare them to become global citizens and obtain meaningful and rewarding employment in a dynamic, international workplace. With this in mind, we are excited to inform you that all students in grades 2-5 now have access to one of the most innovative typing tutors available -Typing Agent. Discounted Hershey Park Tickets
The Deep Run PTA is selling discounted Hershey Park Tickets that are good any day from May 3rd through September 29th. The tickets include entry into the waterpark and zoo. Flyers are going home with students in their Wednesday folders or you can click on the links below. Orders are due March 8th.
DRES PTA Bingo Night--March 8th
The Deep Run PTA will be hosting a family Bingo Night on March 8th in the cafeteria. Doors open at 6:30 and the first bingo game starts at 7. The cost is $3.00 for PTA members and their families or $4.00 for everyone else. Children must be accompanied by a parent. Prizes will be awarded to winners. 5th grade will be selling pizza, drinks, and snacks.
Save the Date: PTA Restaurant Night at Chipotle
Make dinner a selfless act by joining us for a fundraiser to support Deep Run Elementary School. Come in to the Chipotle at 6181 Old Dobbin Lane Ste. 100 in Columbia on Monday, March 25th between 5:00pm and 9:00pm. Bring in the flyer below or show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier you’re supporting the cause to make sure that 33% of the proceeds will be donated to Deep Run Elementary School.
Girls on the Run--Registration Opens February 10th
Girls on the Run Registration Opens February 10: Girls on the Run® inspires girls in grades 3-5 to be joyful, healthy, and confident by using running to teach valuable life skills. Teams of 15-20 girls meet twice weekly after school for 10 weeks. Each season concludes with the girls and their running buddies completing a 5k run. The Spring season will start the week of March 17, with the season-ending 5k scheduled for June 1, 2019, in Columbia, MD. Registration opens on Sunday, February 10 at 12:00 noon. Program registration fee is $175 and includes 5k registration, water bottle, t-shirt, and all program materials. Financial assistance is available – no girl is turned away. Dolly Parton Imagination Library
Deep Run has been selected to participate in Read with Me, a partnership between HCPSS, Bright Minds, the HC Early Childhood Advisory Council, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
This program is for ANY baby or young child age 4 or under who lives in the Deep Run Elementary area. This includes your relatives and neighbors who live in the Deep Run area. Books will be mailed directly to your child. If you would like to sign up, complete the form below--one form per child.
