Complete Your Famiily File Now

Families who attended a Howard County Public School last year, and families who completed the registration process, should complete the Family File now.

PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR STUDENT(S) FAMILY FILE ASAP

The 2022-2023 Family File is now available to parents. HCPSS requires that your Family File is completed BEFORE you can see your child’s teacher in Canvas on August 26th.

Only familes who have completed the Family File will be able to see their student(s) home room teacher during orientation week.

Every year HCPSS parents must complete a Family File for each child. HCPSS utilizes Family File for parents/guardians to complete emergency information. Parents/guardians must verify and/or update information for each child, and can do so by logging in to HCPSS Connect PARENT ACCOUNT and selecting the MORE OPTIONS tab on the left and then clicking on Family File.

Once logged in, you will be asked to update or provide the following information:

  •  Student Information

  •  Parent/Guardian Contact

  •  Emergency Contacts

  •  Medical Information

  •  Arrival/Dismissal Procedures

  •  Photo Approval Data Confidentiality

  •  PTA/PTSA Directory

Again, it is important that you complete the Family File in order to receive the name of your child's teacher for the upcoming school year.

Free and Reduced Meals Program-- Apply Now

Lunch will only be free or reduced for children of families who qualify for the Free and Reduced Meals Program.  Applications must be submitted to determine eligibility.

Free breakfast will be available for all students at Deep Run for the 22-23 school year.

Families are reminded that the federal government has NOT extended waivers allowing free meals for all students. Consequently, for the 2022-2023 school year, students whose families do not qualify for free or reduced lunch will be required to pay the daily meal price

·         Student Lunch - $2.80

Many HCPSS families are eligible to participate in the Free and Reduced Price Meals (FARMs) program, which provides children with a wide range of benefits including free or discounted college tuition, testing and application fees, academic and athletic program fees and many others in addition to free or discounted meals.

Families are urged to check their eligibility and complete a FARMs application as soon as possible. Families must submit a new application every school year.

Details on the Free and Reduced Meals program are available online. Use the link below to apply.

Bus Transportation

Deep Run is mostly a school where students walk to and from school.  Students who live in neighborhoods where the walking distance is over a mile, may be eligible for bus transportation.  Bus Transportation Policy 5200 provides more information about the guidelines used to determine bus transportation to and from school.  Bus schedules will be available on the HCPSS website in mid-August. Students in PreK-5  living in the Paragon Apartments and in Deep Run Park do not receive bus transportation.  We encourage families to walk to school if they live in the walker area. For families who drive there is an established car loop system that will be shared prior to the first day of school.   There is very limited parking at Deep Run for arrival and dismissal--there is no parking in the surrounding neighborhoods, including Sherwood Drive.

Deep Run Wellness Center

The Howard County Health Department in partnership with the Howard County Public School System has selected Deep Run ES to be one of the eleven schools to have a school-based wellness center. Deep Run ES has had the telemedicine program, but starting in SY 22-23, there will be a nurse practitioner on-site a few days a week to provide school entry physicals,  co-management of chronic health problems with your child’s pediatric provider, health education, and treat acute illnesses and injuries. The wellness center hopes to offer routine childhood vaccinations in the near future.  When the nurse practitioner is not at the school, telemedicine services will still be offered for illnesses and injuries. The Health Department will only bill Medical Assistance or your child’s MCO. The family is never billed or charged a  co-pay or any fee. Children must be enrolled by their parent or guardian to receive services.
