Kindergarten Registration Opens March 6
Kindergarten registration for the 2023-2024 school year begins Monday, March 6. Parents/guardians of children who will be five on or before September 1, 2023, must enroll their children in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year. Details about the enrollment process are available online.
CARE APP
Howard County has introduced a new resource for families. The CAREAPP website connects our community to free and reduced-cost services for food, health, housing, transportation, and more in multiple languages. If you need any assistance accessing the CAREAPP, contact one of our school counselors, Mrs. Fairchild or Mrs. Wohnsigl.
Deep Run Yearbooks
Deep Run Yearbooks go on sale next week. Paper order forms will be in Wednesday folders on March 8th. You can also order online at www.strawbridge.net Use code: YB26308
Yearbooks are $15 each.
Order by May 1, 2023
Yearbooks will arrive in June, before the end of the school year.
School Start Times for the 23-24 School Year
On February 23rd, the HCPSS Board of Education voted to adjust school start times for the 23-24 school year. There is no change for this school year.
The exact start time for each school will be finalized this spring. Deep Run is in Tier 3 and will likely start earlier next year--around 9:15. This means the doors to the school will open around 8:55. Dismissal will be around 3:45 pm.

PTA Family Bingo on March 10th
Join famiily and friends at PTA Bingo Night on March 10th at 7:00. Doors open at 6:30

2nd Grade Math Facts Night/Math Fact Night con 2do grado
Who: 2nd grade students and families
What: Join 2nd grade teachers to learn and practice activities to support your child’s learning at home with basic facts. Each child will receive math materials to play games at home. This evening is designed for second grade students and parent/guardian to play together. Please note there will not be childcare provided for siblings. An invitation will be coming home in Wednesday folders on Wednesday, March 8th. If you can make it, please return the RSVP part by Monday, March 13th.
When: Thursday, March 16th, 2023 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: Deep Run Elementary School- Cafeteria

Summer School Opportunities
Synergy online enrollment requests for currently enrolled HCPSS students will reopen Wednesday, March 1 at 6 p.m. for the BSAP Summer Institute, Gifted and Talented Summer Institutes for Talent Development, Innovative Pathways High School (all courses except credit recovery and Gear Up for 9th Grade), and Summer Math Scholars programs.
HCPSS staff will provide in-person assistance for current HCPSS families who need help submitting their Synergy online enrollment requests for the registration-based summer programs. Support will be provided on Thursday, March 9 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the following elementary schools: Bollman Bridge ES, Swansfield ES, Talbott Springs ES, Waterloo ES, and Waverly ES.

Deep Run PTA HersheyPark Ticket Sales
Get HersheyPark Happyt! The Deep Run PTA is selling discounted HersheyPark Tickets. The order forms will be in Wednesday folders next week. The tickets are $45 each and are good from April - January, 2024. Orders must be turned in by March 24th.
Pop Up Pantry at Deep Run on April 1
The Catholic Community of Ascension and St. Augustine (CCASTA) is sponsoring a “Pop-Up Pantry” on Saturday, April 1 at Deep Run Elementary School. CCASTA will begin distributing items at 10:00 am.
Anyone in need is welcome to stop by and take available items, but some quantities may be limited based on availability and the number of people who show up. Please share this information with family, friends or neighbors who may need a little help.
