Hoops for Heart

During the Month of March students in PE will focus on Healthy Habits as well as participate in a variety of basketball activities. We have teamed up again with the American Heart Association to help spread the importance of keeping a healthy heart. Students will be bringing home a letter this week that will give you information on how to team up with us on-line to spread the word.

If you would like to sign-up now click on the link Below

Our Hoops for Heart school wide event will take place on March 28th during each grade's related arts time slot. During that hour, students will partake in several basketball challenges. Please make sure your child has sneakers on that day.

Last year we had 125 students sign-up on line to take a Healthy Habit Challenge. This year our goal is to have 200 students sign-up. If we can reach this goal Mr. Sachs and Mr. Roeser will get ducked taped to the wall (Date to be determined). Along with taking on these Healthy Challenges we will be collecting donations for the American Heart Association. These proceeds are used by the American Heart Association to help fund research and education to help save lives. All collection envelopes and on-line donations are due by March 28th.

Security Procedures at Deep Run Elementary

Please follow the following security procedures when visiting Deep Run Elementary.  These procedures are aligned to HCPSS expectations:

· The front door is the only entrance point for all visitors.

· We ask that you buzz the front office and look in the camera.

· The office staff will ask you how they can help you and your purpose for visiting.

· All visitors then enter the front office with their identification.

· Each visitor will have their ID checked and sign in on LobbyGuard.

· A visitor’s sticker will be given to all visitors.

· Any visitor in our building without a sticker will be escorted directly back to the office by a staff member.

Our doors will remain locked for after school activities.  Leaders of the activities will bring students to the lobby for dismissal at the end of the program each day.

We appreciate you helping us provide a secure learning environment for your children.

Grab and Go Breakfast Coming to Deep Run on March 5th

The Grab and Go breakfast will be available at the same cost to students as the breakfast in the cafeteria and can be purchased with funds on their account or with cash. Full price breakfast is $2.

Deep Run Learning Together Program

The Deep Run Regional Early Childhood Center (RECC) toddler and preschool programs are making preparations for classes for the 2018-19 school year.  These classes include children with and without disabilities.  The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills.  Parents of children who will be 3 by September 1st or 4 years of age may pick up an application package in the front office.

All applications must be returned by the last Friday in March. A limited number of openings are available for children without disabilities.  Children are selected based upon screening information given on the application form and the “Ages and Stages Questionnaire,” as well as observations of the child’s participation in a playgroup.  If necessary, a lottery process is conducted.

If you have any questions, please contact Ruth Gibson at (410) 313-5000.
