Deep Run Elementary is Invited to Participate in the Long Reach Homecoming Parade

Long Reach High School Homecoming-Opportunity for Staff, Students and Families--October 19th at 8:30 am

Go for the Goal--Happy and Healthy Wellness Night--October 22 6-8 pm

All families are invited to join us for an evening that will foster healthy habits around many dimensions of wellness. Our goal is to provide a fun and valuable evening where everyone will experience ways to be healthier and happier as well as make connections with community resources.  Representatives from community organizations and businesses will have information about nutrition, mental health, blood pressure, financial literacy, bike safety, wellness programs, and other community resources. Healthy and happy students make successful students.

PTA Deep Run Dash--Fun Run Fundraiser--Collect Pledges Now

The PTA's primary fundraiser this year is the Deep Run Dash. On October 24th students will run the dash during their recess times. Parents are welcome to come to school during their child's recess to cheer on the runners.  Families and friends are asked to assist by collecting donations. Research is clear that showing up for school has a huge impact on a student’s academic and social success starting from kindergarten and continuing through high school.

PTA Restaurant Night at Texas Roadhouse--October 23

Health Room News

Seasons are changing! This is the time of year for allergy symptoms, colds, and the flu. Our flu clinic will be held on Wednesday, October 30. We are no longer accepting consents so please reach out to your pediatrician and have your child vaccinated.

Please place pants, underwear, and a shirt in your students back pack. Accidents happen (whether it is spills or bathroom) and we are unable to provide clothing in the health room. A quick change ensures your child can stay in the classroom without the hassle of contacting you!

What is Telemedicine? How does it work? Come see Mrs. Breck on October 22nd at the Go for the Goal Wellness night. She will be demonstrating how it works! See first hand all the benefits of registering your child for Telemedicine and have all your questions answered.

Thrive By Five Conference

Thrive by Five Conference is coming! This conference is for families with children birth to 5 years old and will be held at the North Laurel Community Center on November 16th from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

  • There will be break-out sessions on nutrition, wellness, music.
  • One break-out session is in Spanish.
  • This event is free, but there is limited space, so please register at thrivebyfivehoward2019.eventbrite.com.
  • There is also limited childcare available for children 2 yrs old and over by calling the number on the flier (410-313-1442).
  • Translation services can also be requested.

Guiding Good Choices Prevention Program

This is an evidence-based, interactive prevention program that provides the families of children ages 9-14 with skills and knowledge to reduce the risk that their children will use drugs.  This program is sponsored through HC DrugFree. It will be held at Wilde Lake Middle School on Tuesday, October 22 & 29 and November 5 & 12, 2019. See flier for additional information.

Being a Reader and Being a Writer--New Programs

This year, all elementary schools have implemented two new literacy programs, Being a Reader and Being a Writer.

Drug Take Back Day--October 26

Dispose of unwanted or expired medications and sharps (syringes, needles, Epi-Pens) on October 26th from 10 am - 2pm at the Wilde Lake Village Center parking lot (near UPS).  This is a convenient drive through drop-off sponsored by HC DrugFree. Click here for more information.
