A Word from You Administrators

Dear Deep Run Families,

As we wrap up another school you we wanted to thank you for your support and partnership during the school year. You have helped your child get to school every day, participated in parent learning events and shown love to your child's teacher. For all you have done throughout he year we sincerely thank you. 

We would also like to thank Ms. Keri Esposito, PTA President and the DRES PTA Board for their tireless efforts helping to support so many fun events and initiatives. From Trunk or Treat to the Winter Festival, the school year is full of fun events for the entire community. We sincerely thank Ms. Esposito and the entire PTA Board for all they have done to make Deep Run a better place. 

We wish you a restful summer and look forward to seeing you in August!

Q4 Report Cards are available June 23rd after 4pm

DRES Summer Meal Program

HCPSS will offer its free summer meal program weekdays June 23-Aug. 1 (except July 4) from 12:30-2 p.m. at locations across Howard County including Deep Run this summer. Any child ages 18 and under may receive free meals. There are no applications, enrollment, or fees to participate in this program, however children must be present to receive free meals. Please spread the word to your neighbors to help reduce food insecurity during the summer when school is not in session. For more information: https://www.hcpss.org/food-services/summer-meals/

 

Summer Reading and Math Events

Stop by DRES on July 10th and August 7th from 4-6pm to receive reading and math materials to keep your child busy during summer.

Student Orientations & Open House: Friday, August 22nd

  • School wide Open House: 2-3 pm
  • RECC/Pre-K Open House: 1:15-2pm.
  • Kindergarten Open House: 1-1:45 pm.
  • New student Orientation (Grades 1-5): 12:30-1:30 pm.

Back-to-School Nights (6-7:30 pm.):

  • Tuesday, September 9th: Pre-K/Grade 1
  • Wednesday, September 10th: Grades 2 & 3
  • Thursday, September 11th: Grades 4 & 5

Student Enrollment/Registration for 2025-2026 School Year
Registration for new students for the 2025-2026 school year is open. Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2025, in order to enroll in kindergarten. Please call 410-313-5000 or email us at theresa_morgan@hcpss.org for more information. When completing the online enrollment, families MUST upload the following documents:

  • Birth Certificate or other acceptable evidence of birth
  • Immunization Records from physician
  • Signed original, current complete lease (all pages) or complete recorded deed (all pages) with your address, valid dates, signatures
  • Current utility bill with name and address (non-cellular telephone, gas and electric, cable bill issued in the last 45 days.)
  • Any additional paperwork that may be necessary due to special living arrangements or circumstances.
  • *Registering parent must bring their Picture ID to the front office to complete the registration.

All documents MUST be uploaded with your registration for it to be complete.  Do not submit registration until all documents are uploaded.

 

Pre-Kindergarten Registration opens for the 2025-2026 school year on March 10th.  Children must be 4 years old by September 1, 2025 in order to enroll in pre-kindergarten. Anyone wishing to register must first complete an application reflecting expanded eligibility criteria that the HCPSS Early Childhood Office reviews for qualification. You can review more information about eligibility on the HCPSS website or contact Early Childhood Programs at 410-313-6836.

 

Please use these FREE Curriculum Resources with your children this Summer!

The HCPSS elementary curriculum offices have compiled a variety of engaging activities to support student learning over the summer. Resources are organized by grade level and subject and can be accessed below.

Additional materials including games, strategy tips, field trip ideas, and more are available on the Canvas Parent Pages. We encourage families to review this year’s standards and even explore skills for the upcoming school year.
