A Word from You Administrators

Dear Deep Run Families,

Good afternoon, Did you all have fun helping your families dig out your driveways and/or trying to make your sidewalks and walkways as safe as possible? Imagine the challenge of doing that for an entire school? Hats off to our custodial staff and grounds services for their tireless efforts over the last few days trying to get our school ready to reopen. Much like your neighborhoods, our school campus is ready to re-open, but there will be some challenges to face on Monday morning. Based on some issues we identified, we are making some changes to our standard morning arrival/departure plans. Please note the info below:

  • Please note schools are opening 2 hours late at 11:10 am on Monday and Tuesday.
  • Expect that there will be fewer spots than usual due to piles of snow in various areas of the parking lot. A reminder not to park in the staff spaces or other unauthorized areas.
  • Snow mounds along Old Waterloo Road are forcing us to modify our morning drop off and afternoon pick up procedures. Students may be dropped off along the side of the building at designated areas where staff are. Access to the front parking areas will be accessible once buses leave the property.
  • There are many side walks that have not been clearer our so please drive your child to school if possible.
  • Please be careful navigating around campus and along Old Waterloo Road since the snow mounds limit visibility and there could still be some slick spots here and there. Student safety is of paramount concern.

We will be sure to communicate any updates as needed. Thanks for your flexibility and we'll see you Monday morning!

Warmly,

Nigel La Roche          Jerome Pickens                  Colleen Golden

Principal                     Assistant Principal              Assistant Principal

Spotlight on “National School Counseling Week”

National School Counseling Week (NSCW) will be celebrated February 2–6, 2026. HCPSS will join school districts across the country in recognizing the vital role school counselors play in supporting student achievement and well-being. This year’s theme, “School Counselors Amplify Student Success,” highlights the powerful impact counselors have in our schools. As true “amplifiers,” our counselors elevate student voices, turn aspirations into achievable goals, and provide the academic, social-emotional, and career support every child needs to thrive.

NSCW is a dedicated opportunity to honor school counselors who implement comprehensive counseling programs that help students navigate the challenges of the 21st century. Throughout the week, we celebrate their essential work in promoting college and career readiness, fostering resilience and well-being, and guiding students as they discover their strengths, talents, and interests.

Please join me in celebrating and thanking our outstanding school counselors: William Wentz and Emily Goldhammer for their dedication, hard work, and unwavering support of our students!
