In fact TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR.  Join Cinderella (played by Marissa Scharf) on her journey from maid to princess as she defies her stepmother’s (Aliyah Smith-Bradley) wishes and makes it to the ball. With the help of her Fairy Godmother (Emily Oberuch), Cinderella discovers the life she dreams of is within reach. Come watch where this wild road will take our budding Princess, and enjoy!

Performances are January 31 at 7pm and February 2 at 2pm. Tickets are $8 and available at the door

Valentine's Day at Deep Run

Valentine's Day will be recognized at Deep Run Elementary on Friday, February 14th. Classroom teachers will send home the first names of each student in the class and students may exchange cards. This is an optional activity. Should your child choose to participate, he/she should bring a card for each student in the class. Our grade levels teams will participate in a cross-grade buddy activity.  February 14th is an early dismissal day so there will be no special Valentine's Day food or treats served to students that day.  Students will have a regular lunch in the cafeteria.  Please do not send any treats or goodie bags as we will be unable to give them to students.

Get Ready for the Kids Heart Challenge

Parents, it’s that time of year for your child to show heart!  This year, Deep Run has teamed up with the American Heart Association’s new program Kids Heart Challenge. During the Month of February our students will be learning about heart health while spreading the word and raising funds to help further develop heart treatments. Your child/children should have brought home an information envelope this week in their Wednesday (January 29th). More information about our event will be coming out next week in a canvas announcement.

Screening for Students at Risk for Reading Difficulties

In accordance with Maryland’s Ready to Read Act (2019), all HCPSS kindergarten students* will be administered a screener assessment that includes a battery of four one-minute reading measures (DIBELS 8th Edition) to examine their letter naming, decoding, and word reading skills. The assessments will occur throughout winter, 2020. Parents and guardians will be notified if assessment results indicate that your child would benefit from an intervention.

*This includes kindergarten students who do not have a current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) with reading foundational skills goals.

These classes include children with and without disabilities. The program’s focus is helping all children develop communication, literacy, math, problem solving, motor, and social skills. Parents of children who will be 3 and 4 years of age for the 2020-2021 school year may come to school office for an application package beginning February 3, 2020.
