Dear Deep Run Families,
We are so very excited for another school year. Our staff are back and they are setting up classrooms and preparing for our students and families. Monday, August 18th: Virtual PTA Meeting - Get to Know our our new PTA Board (7pm)
A new school year is about to begin and the PTA will be having their first meeting virtually on Monday, 8/18 @ 7pm to introduce our new officers and to approve our budget for the year.

- New student Orientation (Grades 1-5): 12:30-1:30 pm.
- School wide Open House: 2-3 pm
- RECC/Pre-K Open House: 1:15-2pm.
- Kindergarten Open House: 1-1:45 pm.
Monday, August 25th: First Day of School for Students in Grades K-5
Thursday, August 28th: 1st Day of school for preschool/Pre-K
Monday, September 1st: Schools and Offices Closed
Tuesday, September 9th: Grade Kindergarten & 1 Back to School Night (6-7:30 pm)
Wednesday, September 10th: Grades 2 & 3 Back to School Night (6-7:30 pm)
Thursday, September 11th: RECC/Pre-K, Grades 4 & 5 Back to School Night (6-7:30 pm)
September 17th: Schools close 3 hours early
September 23rd: Rosh Hashanah - Schools and Offices Closed

Update Your Family File
Parents/guardians must verify and/or update emergency information for each child every school year. This is completed online in Family File, which has several new updates including how and where to access. Full details on updating your Family File are available online.
One exciting new feature is that families now can submit a change of address via Family File, rather than completing a separate form and sending it to their school. Full directions and information for families on this new process can be found online.

Breakfast and Lunch Program at Deep Run
Please be informed that Deep Run will continue participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for school year 2025-2026 where all enrolled students are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge each day.
Les informamos que Deep Run seguirá participando en la Disposición de Elegibilidad Comunitaria (CEP) durante el año escolar 2025-2026, en virtud de la cual todos los alumnos matriculados tendrán derecho a recibir cada día un desayuno y un almuerzo saludables en la escuela sin coste alguno.

School Supply List
The supply list for the 2025/26 school year can be found HERE. We encourage you to drop off your school supplies during Open House on August 22. Please be sure to clearly label your child's supplies with his/her name.

Bus Locator Information
The HCPSS Bus locator will be updated before school starts. Please be sure to check your child's bus stop location, bus time, and bus number as they may have changed from last year. Please be sure to arrive at your bus stop at least 5 minutes before your scheduled pick-up time. https://www.hcpss.org/schools/transportation/

Family Academy Kickoff Rescheduled
New Date: Friday, Sept. 27, 9:00 am–12:00 pm
Location: Oakland Mills High School
This districtwide event is open to all HCPSS families and will feature:
- A session with Superintendent Bill Barnes
- Resource tables hosted by HCPSS offices and local organizations
- Information on programs, resources, and services available throughout the school year
- Childcare and language access provided

Student Enrollment/Registration for 2025-2026 School Year
Registration for new students for the 2025-2026 school year is open. Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2025, in order to enroll in kindergarten. Please call 410-313-5000 or email us at theresa_morgan@hcpss.org for more information. When completing the online enrollment, families MUST upload the following documents:
- Birth Certificate or other acceptable evidence of birth
- Immunization Records from physician
- Signed original, current complete lease (all pages) or complete recorded deed (all pages) with your address, valid dates, signatures
- Current utility bill with name and address (non-cellular telephone, gas and electric, cable bill issued in the last 45 days.)
- Any additional paperwork that may be necessary due to special living arrangements or circumstances.
- *Registering parent must bring their Picture ID to the front office to complete the registration.
All documents MUST be uploaded with your registration for it to be complete. Do not submit registration until all documents are uploaded.

Pre-Kindergarten Registration for the 2025-2026 school year is open
Children must be 4 years old by September 1, 2025 in order to enroll in pre-kindergarten. Anyone wishing to register must first complete an application reflecting expanded eligibility criteria that the HCPSS Early Childhood Office reviews for qualification. You can review more information about eligibility on the HCPSS website or contact Early Childhood Programs at 410-313-6836.
